FOXBORO – The second and final day of preliminary play at the 2018 Pre-Draft Showcase began early on Saturday morning. The day’s action at the Foxboro Sports Center began with FCA Hockey (Black) and Coast 2 Coast PD (Gray) playing in their third and final College Open game of the tournament; FCA securing their first victory of the tournament by a score of 2-1.
Scoring was at a premium for the two sides in the day’s opening contest. Jarod Crespo opened the scoring with his second of the tournament at 6:48 of the opening half to give FCA the 1-0 advantage. Matt Thurston responded for Coast 2 Coast just about nine minutes later at 15:21 to draw the game even at 1-1, where it remained until deep in the second half.
With a deadlocked final score not far off on the horizon, Spencer Johnston broke through with his first score of the tournament as just 2:23 remained on the game clock to secure the victory for FCA.
Robbie Hufnagel and Aaron Randazzo split the winning duties in net for FCA, while Crespo led the game in scoring with a goal and an assist.
