Future Pros claim top prize at the 2019 Pre-Draft Showcase.

FOXBORO – New England Pro Am Hockey’s 2019 Pre-Draft Showcase was brought to its conclusion on Sunday afternoon at the Foxboro Sports Center and it was the Future Pros that went home with the tournament’s top prize. They defeated Roc City 3-1 to claim the Jr. A division championship.

Though the game was played at a torrid pace and both sides could match each other speed-for-speed, the tenor of the game was seemingly one of Future Pros’ dominance. It seemed only a matter of time before they broke through.

They did – a Robbie Drazner goal at 11:27 – but the dam did not break. Roc City stood to every shot the Future Pros threw at them and even through some shots of their own.

A goal by Michael Posma at 25:27 tied the game for Roc City, but it was most notably the defensive play and the goaltending of netminders David Battisti (who started the game) and Kyle Chauvette (who came on in relief at the game’s midpoint) that seemed key in staying with the Future Pros, not giving up too many high-quality chances and then thwarting the few they did.

In their efforts to match the Future Pros, penalties became costly late in the contest for Roc City. With a 5-on-3 man advantage, Danny Pearson scored with just over a minute remaining to put Future Pros ahead 2-1. While Roc City still did not relent, an empty netter by Addison Macey at 29:31 sealed the 2019 Jr. A division championship for Future Pros, 3-1.
