Second half onslaught leads Seacoast Spartans.

CANTON – The Seacoast Spartans’ Jr. A squad kicked off their second day of pool play at the 2019 Pre-Draft Showcase in fine fashion Saturday morning. They exploded for five second half goals to blaze past the Valley Jr. Warriors at the Canton Ice House.

A late goal by Matt Smith garnered Valley a 1-0 lead at the break, but when the teams returned to the ice for the second half the Spartans’ special teams went to work to turn the contest around.

There were a pair of power play goals – one each by Braeden Logue and Matt Gould – sandwiching a shorthanded score by Andrew Miller that got the Spartans to three on the scoresheet. Valley tallied a power play goal of their own in that opening span of the second half to make the score 3-2, but the Spartans offense was not to slow.

Another by Logue and one from Joe Hawk set Seacoast’s final goal total at five, while David Dew kept Valley off the board the rest of the way to record the win in net. It was a 5-2 victory for the Spartans.
