Eels win high-scoring affair, 7-5.

FOXBORO – After dropping their opening contest on Friday, the Eels offense came back with a vengeance on Saturday morning in their second game of the 2023 Pre-Draft Showcase. The hung seven on Nomadic Hockey Development to notch the 7-5, College Open victory at the Foxboro Sports Center.

Though the game belonged the Eels after 50 minutes, had they only played 25 it would have gone down in favor of Nomadic Hockey. They took a 3-2 advantage into the intermission following goals by Greyson Betzold, Sebastian Mason and Gavin Barnhart. Payton Staniec and Sebastian Powers were credited with the Eels’ first half goals.

When the teams returned from the intermission, the Eels offense exploded, while Nomadic’s slowed. Staniec scored again, while the Eels also got goals in the second from Dylan Hineman, Lucas Heimberg, Bryce Krause and Delton Hoffman to amass their total seven.

Betzold notched a second of the game in the second as well, while Bergon Nelson put away the fifth and final goal of the contest for Nomadic.
