Eels and Pit Hockey Open with Draw

FOXBORO – The first full day of play in the 2017 New England Pro-Am Hockey Pre-Draft Showcase opened on Friday morning. That day opened with the Eels coming up with the lone score of the second half to record a 2-2 draw with Pit Hockey 2 Orange at Foxboro Sports Center.

Pit Hockey’s offense started at a torrid pace, Tony Cimanto getting his side on the board just 36-seconds into the contest. The 1-0 advantage was doubled at the 1:13 mark as Casey O’Brien made his way to the score sheet.

The offensive pace settled and the 2-0 score remained for much of the first half before the Eels got up on the scoreboard at 17:48. Christian Snyder responsible for cutting the deficit in half.

It stayed at 2-1 through the half and remained their deep into the contest when Alec Stacy and Hayden Haldane again combined to set up some Eels magic. After pairing up to assist on Snyder’s tally in the first, the Florida forwards were at it again in the second, providing the assists on Nicholas Vasquez’s equalizing score at 16:47 of the second half.

Pit’s Blake Bjella and the Eels Viktor Wennberg dueled out the draw from their team’s respective goal crease.
